Making the switch to toxin-free living
Let’s face it. We know that fruit and vegetables are good for us. We also know that toxins are not good for us. But do you realise how many toxins you are using in your everyday life with your personal care products?
As we move through a typical day, you wake up in the morning and you check your emails/phone, make a coffee, have your breakfast, shower, wash your hair, style your hair with hairspray, mousse or gel, brush your teeth, put on your deodorant, perfume/aftershave, moisturise your face, makeup. Then head out the door to start your day. Wash your hands continuously, sanitise your hands continuously (being the new norm now), and then moisturise your hands continuously because they are drying out. Then you get home and have a shower, wash your skin after a long day, moisturise and cleanse your face and brush your teeth before going to bed. Then repeating this the next day. Sound familiar? Chances are you have exposed yourself to so many different toxins throughout the whole day.
Have you ever walked away from the beauty aisle or even the cleaning aisle of the supermarket with a headache or even sneezed? We are bombarded with all these toxins and it is affecting us dramatically.
Given that the skin is the largest organ of the body and absorbs 60% of what you have put on it, it’s no wonder we become ill.
U.S researchers found that 1 in 8 of the 82,000 ingredients used in personal care products are industrial toxins. Some to remove grease from auto parts, to keep concrete soft, and surfactants in paints and ink.
At Saba Organics we consider the skin to be like a sponge, we don’t want to absorb toxins. When we become aware of how easy it is for toxins to be absorbed through the skin, it makes sense to realise how our beauty CHOICES affect our overall well being.
That’s right, we have a CHOICE to live toxin-free
Knowing that we can choose what we put onto our skin is very empowering, not only for our health but also for the planet. What stops us from making the right choice?
There are many things that can affect our choices, we may have grown up with a particular skincare range, or perhaps seen some advertisement on the TV and trusted the company, maybe someone told you what to use, or you may have been attracted to the looks and packaging of a certain range. Lack of education and awareness can also affect our choices as well.
Tips on making the switch to more clean, organic skincare
We are in a time now where the choices we make will impact the people and planet. Let’s all make conscious choices and together we can change our health and planet. Here are some tips to support you in making a switch;
1. Read the INGREDIENTS
Pull out the skin, hair and body products you are using and start to read the ingredients. If you're finding lots of numbers and ingredients that are too hard to pronounce, then maybe ask yourself what these ingredients are and how safe they are? You may not even know the answer or perhaps you may even start to do some research. You may be surprised at what you find! All of our ingredients are 100% Australian Certified Organic and natural.
2. Make CONSCIOUS CHOICES
We have the opportunity to choose what we use and put on our skin every day. But, we are living in a society where we trust the products that companies are providing us have all the right ingredients in them and are safe. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. This autopilot living style can affect the choices we are making for humanity as a whole. Remember our children are like sponges - they see and do everything we do. Get them involved in this, they are the future of our planet. When choosing personal care products; following a guideline can be helpful.
- First, do no harm: Do not use ingredients that will adversely affect your skin and health
- Use plant-based ingredients: Petrochemicals and animal-derived ingredients should be avoided in favour of plant-based ingredients that are obtained from certified organic sources. In particular, look for ingredients that are non-toxic, free of any artificial fragrances, sulphates, parabens and aluminiums.
- Environmentally friendly: The products and its packaging should have low energy usage, be biodegradable and recyclable.
3. EDUCATE yourself
Learn about skincare and the benefits to buy organic clean products. Look for products that support non-animal testing and are vegan, as well as sustainably sourced and certified organic. Not only is it beneficial for your skin but also for the planet and future generations.
4. Start by making SMALL changes
You can start to look at the products you use most in your everyday life such as deodorant, toothpaste or hair care products. Once you make the switch and see the tremendous benefits it has, you will then start to make changes with other products such as kitchen cleaners, laundry products and begin to transform your health and your environment. All our products are certified organic, from our hand sanitisers to our complete range of organic hand wash and everything in between.
SO, how do you feel about making the switch today for the health of your skin and body?
